33rd Annual Pinover Achievement Awards
And the Winner is
The Advertising Production Association of Los Angeles held the 33rd Annual Production Awards Banquet on Friday, May 13, and honored a group of its past and present members with a newly-created APALA Pinover Hall of Fame.
Winning the APALA Pinover Production Achievement Award for 2011 was Kim Nunez-Schultz of Sketchers USA. Kim has worked at Sketchers for the last three years, and before that worked at a variety of agencies and printing companies. Kim is also on the Board of Directors of the APALA, and has served there for the past few years. Also nominated for the Production Award were Tricia Kawabe of Fox Home Entertainment and Natalia Casemore of the NBC Agency.
John Mendoza won the Traffic/Project Management Achievement Award this year. John works for Deutsch LA., where he holds a job as Project Manager on the Volkswagen website, internally managing all updates as well as redesigns of the site. Also nominated for the Traffic Award were Bridget Deason and Norma Jean Hill-Craft, both from Herbalife International.
The Pinover Hall of Fame was created to honor past or current members of the Advertising Production Association of Los Angeles who have made significant contributions to the industry and to the APALA.
The first Hall of Fame inductees were retired industry veteran Jim Cooper, formerly of George Rice and Sons and Graphic Press; Zaz Clark, who retired five years ago after a long career in the print advertising field; and Heinz Weber, who founded his own firm after working to develop many innovations in color prepress.
The Industry Spirit Award for 2011 went to John Rice of Saatchi & Saatchi in Torrance. This award celebrates the recipient’s efforts to promote the role of the Production Manager in the Los Angeles graphic arts industry. Their dedication goes beyond normal job descriptions or expectations. It is through their admirable contributions that they raise awareness and respect for print production and traffic while alsosetting high standards for our future.
The Lifetime Achievement Award was given to Peter Wilson from Clear Image Printing Inc. The Lifetime Achievement Award honors the exceptional contributions of an individual who has helped shape the advertising production industry over the course of their professional life.
Paurvi Trivedi of AMCI took home the President’s Award. This award pays homage to an individual, selected by the APALA President, who has made a meaningful
contribution to the APALA.
The APALA held the 33rd Annual Production Awards Banquet on Friday, May 13 at the Doubletree Hotel in Culver City.
